WIN with Lancaster Insurance: With Mazda Miata MX5s, Porsche Boxsters and Honda S2000s rocketing in price, the BMW Z3 looks like somet
Here's a video featuring the long-hair-don't-care advocate Mike Spinelli asking if the BMW Z3 M is worth a shot over a new Subaru BRZ: In addition to that, it's cheap.
For one, that makes it a fairly affordable option for the millions of Bond fans out there, but more importantly, that little bit of historical significance adds to the long term value of the car. 7 Why You Should Own A Z3: Affordable Modern Classic via Bring A Trailer
Despite the plethora of engines, used Z3s fall into three camps: cheap-as-chips early 1.9 16Vs, mid-price 1.9 8Vs and 2.2s from around £3000, and 2.8 and 3.0-litre cars from £5000 or so. BMW

• Intro Why am I selling my BMW Z3? What I love and hate about my Z3 2.2 roadster. Fast and Fun 3.69K subscribers Subscribe 9.2K views 1 year ago After 6 months ownership it's time to say
In 1999 they launched the 1.8l with 114 bhp and the 2.0l with 148bhp. The 2.8 got an extra 1bhp. Then in 2000 they brought out an updated 1.9 with 117bhp, a 2.2 with 168bhp and the 3.0l i with 228bhp. Basically they got worse unless you could spend the money on the bigger engine sizes.
Why are Z3s so cheap? I'm seeing tatty ones for £1500 and even the best ones are 7-8k. Seems like a fun car for not a huge amount of money. They are inexpensive because they aren't very unique; rather, they are just like every other car on the road. For the same reason, you can get a used Miata for a very low price. Having said that, the car that is mentioned appears too expensive for what it is.
Now that the BMW Z3 is a classic, handling in extremis isn't as important - and arguably never was. Instead, buyers revel in the excellent build quality and usability along with the low running costs. Throw in a range of brilliant engines and slick transmissions and you can see why modern classics like the Z3 hold so much appeal. Engine
